The inner cover of the Dec. 11, 1964, Cleveland, OH, Press TV Showtime featured
a full-page color picture promoting Jonny Quest. The artwork was created by series
mastermind Doug Wildey.
The caption reads, "TV cartoons up to now have been lightweight comedy affairs aimed
for the funny bone. But this season the Hanna- Barbera studio decided to alter the
diet a little by presenting an adventure series, Jonny Quest, in that form. Eleven-year-old
Jonny and his protector, Roger (Race) Bannon (shown above), get into at least one
serious scrape every Friday (7:30, Ch. 5). But the problems they face, though gigantic
at times, are always resolved by the 8 p.m. deadline."
